Carebears attack and rumors float

26 07 2008

The arrival of Juturna and her superior logistical capabilities have sparked new opportunities. One such oprtunity is the ability to take out the old Exhumer; an ore eating monster that can decimate huge quantities of asteriods in little to no time. Mining is not, by far, something I enjoy but killing Guristas in Geminate is simply such a lousy business that have to resort to such measures as mining. However Geminate does contain some rather valuable ore that can be refined from the chunks of asteriods.

Among the more interesting asteroids are bistot and crokite. Though I am not fully up to speed with the latest tech II modules for mining I can still make a nice profit.

As I was sitting nice and tight between thee huge asteriods of crocite a hostile is reported in O-VW and a collective sigh goes through the mining operation. We begin to pull in drones and empty the large canisters floating about in space.

I head for the TDE station in order to hop into the newest addition to my hangar – a vagabond heavy assault cruiser. Noone seems to be in a hurry and the hostile makes slow progress into our systems. His name is Belikah and he usually flies a hurricane battlecruiser, but he seems to have decided it is too slow a boat and had changed it for an Ishtar Heavy Assault Cruiser.

I follow him from TDE as he heads for UG-UW at the very back of our systems. As he jumps into UG I stay back and wait on the gate in case he decides that the welcoming comittee is too much.

A single Raven is all it takes to make him run. The Raven had a single heavy neutralizer and quickly killed off the drones he let loose on it. Ultimately he loses his ship in a hail of missiles.

General chatter on the coms always ensue after combat as as the fleet members are heading back for station a new contact is reported. This time it is SniggWaffe who is about again. They have tried to violate our space once before and lost a few ships with no losses on our part. They should have learned the lesson the first time where they tried to attack my vagabond in 5F systemn and was chased off.

The gang was reported to be about 20 in size, but as they approach VSJ and O-VW the numbers prove to be somewhat lower around 12 in total. I quickly dock up and change ship from the vagabond to my Sabre interdictor class.

The most senior of them who runs scout is reported in an interceptor Ares, the very same I fought in 5F, if I am not mistaken.

The fleetcommander orders us to take up position around the 5F gate. We have one heavy interdictor, a vagabond, an Ishtar, a crow, a sleipnir and two cloaked falcons. Further off grid we have 5 battleships aligned and ready to throw themself into the fray.

The Ares jumped through and easily burned through the Hictor bubble and off he went. The hostiles were reported in 5F on the TDE gate. The scout must have been displeased with what he saw cause after a minute they turned and headed back to 020, i.e. the way they came from.

In a staccato voice I was ordered to burn for the 6YC system to see if we could catch them there. The entire fleet set in motion. Battleships warped in as I left the system and took pursuit of the hostiles. Right on my heels I had Zapp in his ultra fast crow.

In 020 we had gained enough on them to see them just jump out as Zapp and I landed on the gate. We quickly got a myrmidon tackled. I left zapp to hold it down while I continued to 6L78. I jumped through at the same time as another myrmidon jumped through. He must have felt a shiver seeing my Sabre jump with him.

Landing on the other side of the gate I released a warp disruption bubble but for reason unknown to me I was too close to the myrmidon and was quickly double webbed. I had turned from hunter to prey as they called out over the local public channels and started chanting my death.

  • RaYaa > we have nice target unable to break tank
  • Wish Kaan > WAFFLE POWUH!
  • Porkus > what gate?
  • Kinlaan > T_T
  • wiztecia > allo
  • Wish Kaan > shimmy will guide ya

I miracously got clear of the double webbing as a Hurricane warped in on my position already proclaiming my near death. Little did they know that time was on my side and as they finally realised they were hunting a prey that could be dangerous it was too late. My fellow KIA fleetmembers jumped in and decended upon them like mad wasps. Plasma, missiles and projectiles flowed in a steady stream upon the helpless myrmidon and hurricane as I warped out with only 27% structure intact. The myrmidon went down first and was closely followed by the Hurricane.

As luck would have it the bubble burst and the pod of the myrmidon that zapp had chased down was able to jump though and almost escape. Unfortunately he panicked by seeing so many KIA ships and warped to the closest planet, by incident where I also had warped to.

Up went a new bubble and down went his pod.

Badly damaged, my ship limped back to the gate where I found my brothers in arms waiting. My ship was venting fumes into space and was practically about to break down. To my luck some of the battleships had bought makeshift repair drones that could patch up my ship so it was close to being manouverable again.

The pilot Porkus had been confused as to what gate to warp to in order to aid in my death struggle and subsequent demise. Having more sense than the others he jumped though the gate instead of engaging me and there by he escaped into 6YC.

Our gang jumped in and started warping around in the system making it look like a real chae was on. After 5 minutes we left the system but not towards TDE and home. The battleships and some otherships left that way the rest jumped out to 6L78 and sat down to wait.

We were sure he would be missing his friends shortly. And after 15-20 minutes the trick payed off and landed us a Thorax would be killer in our hands.

  • Porkus > patient bastards tbh >:P

Poor Porkus lost his ship and pod in a fight that was never a fight. We had a good laugh over his last comment and headed home.

As we approached the docking point we could see station service crew running around preparing battleships, carriers and dreadnughts…

Our gang quickly docked to hear what the fuzz was about.

KIA is mounting up was all we got out of an exited worker who was welding an extra armor rig on a megathron. The same people who only a month ago was scared to death now openly showed their admiration of the ships they were preparing.

Heading for the bar area of the large station we finaly got more firm confirmation that indeed KIA was to deploy during next week. Leaving the rest to drink and play cards I headed to the hangar to oversee that Juturna would be ready to move out in a few days. Her first real deployment ! I cant wait.
