The road home is long

20 08 2008

KIA has returned home from Stain and have been back in TDE for almost two weeks now. Personally I have taken a trip to Jita to look up on the Gallentean girl.

Xenobytes performed excellent in Stain and more often than not we found that they were able to take down equal size fleets. They had a firm grip on the system 4GQ-XQ but we made frequent incursions. However taking a system that is owned by Sanshas Nation is very hard and almost always become a matter of willpower. When I was based out of T-8 in FM-C we had two incidents where we simply just stayed in system for a period of two months before the besigeres gave up. They could move in and live but never make it their home as long as we sat in the stations and hunted their ratters and industrials whenever they were low on numbers.

I lost a Sabre and a Manticore in the engagements and consider it a very small price to pay for crossing arms with some of the best pilots in EvE. The Sabre was lost when I tried to cover the back of the fleet as we retreated from 4GQ-XQ as the Xenobytes brought out capitalships. The manticore was lost in a solo accident mostly due to my lack of experience with Stealth Bombers. But Im getting better at using them.

I salute Xenobytes for their capabilities and take home a lesson or two again.

For now I’ll hang out in Jita with the girl and see what time brings.

Deployment to Stain

4 08 2008

So here I am, back where it all began. Stain has been and will always be my nemesis. Whatever I do, like try to join an alliance in the far north, I end up in Period Basis next to Stain. Join a mercenary outfit, and we deploy to Stain. Figures…

As if that is not enough we are fighting in no less than three regions. Stain, Feythabolis and Esoteria. The two of them are completely new to me despite having lived so close to them for over a year.

Of note are the system 4GQ-XQ in Stain, in which Stain Empire (SE) lives. Stain Empire, and specifically Xenobytes, were the first ever true combat pilots I ever crossed. Crossed is a fine word for when they crippled 3 of my ravens in less than 2 weeks. On the other hand I learned from them and have never lost another Raven to roaming gangs.

Another system of note is C9N-CC in Esoteria, a system which Stain Empire was recently evicted from. The system has a legacy in that it still holds the wreck of the first Titan to go down. The system has some of the most vivid colors Ive ever seen. A deep blue and grey star field, a piercing red sun and some spectacular light blue and white nebulae.

As the last system of note is AZN-D2 in Feythabolis. A goon controlled system that was the staging point for the attack on C9N-CC. Also the landing zone of the KIA dropships.

On sunday afternoon we moved out from TDE in a large gang consisting mainly of Heavy Assault Ships. I was in my trusty Sabre.

We moved casually along with scouts out. Shortly after having left Geminate region we encountered a Rapier which we ignored as we were eager to get to the destination. It became aparrent that he was following us and a camp was set up at the in-gate in UD-AOK. The pilot magichka jumped into my bubble and was promtly disposed of.

Closing in on C9N-CC, which was our original destination, we were informed that a large fleet fight was taking place and it was not the place to be in our nifty HACs. As a result AZN-D2 was chosen as new destination and headquarter of KIA for the duration of our stay.

Along the way we passed through some spectacular systems of untold beaty and mystery. We even passed some strange looking vessels. We did not bother them and they left us alone as well.

As we came closer to our destination more and more combat vessels appeared. Scared, victorious and proud they roamed and patrolled. There was no doubt we were entering a warzone where everyone was hunter and prey. Goons and Tau Ceti Federation (TCF) gangs and fleets became more and more frequent. We had some banter in the local comms channel, but most of  the TCF spoke a strange dialect, which rumor has it, has its roots in the original Gallente language. They tend to put in a lot of ‘z’s in their pronunciation of words often replacing ‘th’…

After docking up in AZN-D2 and getting settled we took the ships out for a spin and went by C9N-CC.

I was happy to get the chance to see the behemoth of “STEVE” the Avatar Titan wreck. I warped well past it to get a good approach. Smoldering fires can still be observed which must be remains of some engineparts still turning being held in motion by repair drones and nano robots that have not registered the demise of the ship.

We will soon move out as we get comfortable with our new surroundings.

Carebears attack and rumors float

26 07 2008

The arrival of Juturna and her superior logistical capabilities have sparked new opportunities. One such oprtunity is the ability to take out the old Exhumer; an ore eating monster that can decimate huge quantities of asteriods in little to no time. Mining is not, by far, something I enjoy but killing Guristas in Geminate is simply such a lousy business that have to resort to such measures as mining. However Geminate does contain some rather valuable ore that can be refined from the chunks of asteriods.

Among the more interesting asteroids are bistot and crokite. Though I am not fully up to speed with the latest tech II modules for mining I can still make a nice profit.

As I was sitting nice and tight between thee huge asteriods of crocite a hostile is reported in O-VW and a collective sigh goes through the mining operation. We begin to pull in drones and empty the large canisters floating about in space.

I head for the TDE station in order to hop into the newest addition to my hangar – a vagabond heavy assault cruiser. Noone seems to be in a hurry and the hostile makes slow progress into our systems. His name is Belikah and he usually flies a hurricane battlecruiser, but he seems to have decided it is too slow a boat and had changed it for an Ishtar Heavy Assault Cruiser.

I follow him from TDE as he heads for UG-UW at the very back of our systems. As he jumps into UG I stay back and wait on the gate in case he decides that the welcoming comittee is too much.

A single Raven is all it takes to make him run. The Raven had a single heavy neutralizer and quickly killed off the drones he let loose on it. Ultimately he loses his ship in a hail of missiles.

General chatter on the coms always ensue after combat as as the fleet members are heading back for station a new contact is reported. This time it is SniggWaffe who is about again. They have tried to violate our space once before and lost a few ships with no losses on our part. They should have learned the lesson the first time where they tried to attack my vagabond in 5F systemn and was chased off.

The gang was reported to be about 20 in size, but as they approach VSJ and O-VW the numbers prove to be somewhat lower around 12 in total. I quickly dock up and change ship from the vagabond to my Sabre interdictor class.

The most senior of them who runs scout is reported in an interceptor Ares, the very same I fought in 5F, if I am not mistaken.

The fleetcommander orders us to take up position around the 5F gate. We have one heavy interdictor, a vagabond, an Ishtar, a crow, a sleipnir and two cloaked falcons. Further off grid we have 5 battleships aligned and ready to throw themself into the fray.

The Ares jumped through and easily burned through the Hictor bubble and off he went. The hostiles were reported in 5F on the TDE gate. The scout must have been displeased with what he saw cause after a minute they turned and headed back to 020, i.e. the way they came from.

In a staccato voice I was ordered to burn for the 6YC system to see if we could catch them there. The entire fleet set in motion. Battleships warped in as I left the system and took pursuit of the hostiles. Right on my heels I had Zapp in his ultra fast crow.

In 020 we had gained enough on them to see them just jump out as Zapp and I landed on the gate. We quickly got a myrmidon tackled. I left zapp to hold it down while I continued to 6L78. I jumped through at the same time as another myrmidon jumped through. He must have felt a shiver seeing my Sabre jump with him.

Landing on the other side of the gate I released a warp disruption bubble but for reason unknown to me I was too close to the myrmidon and was quickly double webbed. I had turned from hunter to prey as they called out over the local public channels and started chanting my death.

  • RaYaa > we have nice target unable to break tank
  • Wish Kaan > WAFFLE POWUH!
  • Porkus > what gate?
  • Kinlaan > T_T
  • wiztecia > allo
  • Wish Kaan > shimmy will guide ya

I miracously got clear of the double webbing as a Hurricane warped in on my position already proclaiming my near death. Little did they know that time was on my side and as they finally realised they were hunting a prey that could be dangerous it was too late. My fellow KIA fleetmembers jumped in and decended upon them like mad wasps. Plasma, missiles and projectiles flowed in a steady stream upon the helpless myrmidon and hurricane as I warped out with only 27% structure intact. The myrmidon went down first and was closely followed by the Hurricane.

As luck would have it the bubble burst and the pod of the myrmidon that zapp had chased down was able to jump though and almost escape. Unfortunately he panicked by seeing so many KIA ships and warped to the closest planet, by incident where I also had warped to.

Up went a new bubble and down went his pod.

Badly damaged, my ship limped back to the gate where I found my brothers in arms waiting. My ship was venting fumes into space and was practically about to break down. To my luck some of the battleships had bought makeshift repair drones that could patch up my ship so it was close to being manouverable again.

The pilot Porkus had been confused as to what gate to warp to in order to aid in my death struggle and subsequent demise. Having more sense than the others he jumped though the gate instead of engaging me and there by he escaped into 6YC.

Our gang jumped in and started warping around in the system making it look like a real chae was on. After 5 minutes we left the system but not towards TDE and home. The battleships and some otherships left that way the rest jumped out to 6L78 and sat down to wait.

We were sure he would be missing his friends shortly. And after 15-20 minutes the trick payed off and landed us a Thorax would be killer in our hands.

  • Porkus > patient bastards tbh >:P

Poor Porkus lost his ship and pod in a fight that was never a fight. We had a good laugh over his last comment and headed home.

As we approached the docking point we could see station service crew running around preparing battleships, carriers and dreadnughts…

Our gang quickly docked to hear what the fuzz was about.

KIA is mounting up was all we got out of an exited worker who was welding an extra armor rig on a megathron. The same people who only a month ago was scared to death now openly showed their admiration of the ships they were preparing.

Heading for the bar area of the large station we finaly got more firm confirmation that indeed KIA was to deploy during next week. Leaving the rest to drink and play cards I headed to the hangar to oversee that Juturna would be ready to move out in a few days. Her first real deployment ! I cant wait.

Juturna

14 07 2008

For some time a project of mine has been in process and finally I am to see the fruit of the labour. The arrival of Varuna in TDE sparked the urge to press efforts and see the completion of the project. I called up the Caldari plant manufactorer to hear how the project went along and he proclaimed that he was very confident that he would be able to deliver on time.

I courtly told him that I would be in the system of his station within three days, on the very deadline. I could hear his voice crackle as he pulled one excuse after another as to why I should not make such a dangerous trip. When I cut him off and demanded to know why he could not meet the dealine he admited that the ship needed final adjustments. The problems he had faced ! War vs the gallenteans, higher minerals prices, strike and raised sallary of the general workforce was among to excusses. He even had the nerve to ask for additional money.

Was he interested in having capsuleers come by in large numbers ? No? I didn’t think so. We agreed that the delivery time indeed could be reached and that his team would double their efforts.

I boarded my trusty Megathron class battleship and headed for the system of the production plant. Arriving at the stinking excuse for a station, I could see the methane gasses color the sun in the horizon as fumes where vented from holes in the structure. Located in the outer rims of CONCORD patrolled space the station provided service to any and all who can pay. Workers are keept under the worst possible conditions and rumor had it that some even were slaves or druged into obidience.

I was not there to strike a say for workers or slaves, I was there for my product that I had payed for. Checking scanners I made a turn around the station to be sure noone was around that could present a threat to my ship or my product.

Satisfied I docked up and let my ship be guided in by the hangar drones.

I saw it at once. The largest ship in the docking bay. Workers still frantic welding armor plates and making final adjustments. The sparks of a thousand laser cutters and welders dancing like flies.

I turned my head away from the impressive sight and headed for the corporate headquarters of the station where I was met and greeted by a repulsive little person. Not disgusting in the sense that he looked the least bit dirty, smelled bad or anything, but some people just have a natural appearance that makes the small hairs on the neck stand. Vivid images of violated workers and slaves flashed before my eyes. Maybe I could make a exception to not mingling in empire matters…

He was very eager to convince me that the ship was indeed finished, but just needed minor adjustments. I had seen the workers weld on armor plates. I politely asked if armor plates were among the minor adjustments ?

As our discussion progressed I took pleasure in seeing him try to appear cool and business like behind his desk, while his collar betrayed him and took a deeper color as sweat started to fill the textile. I demanded that 3xCCC rigs would be placed on the ship as compensation for not meeting the deadline.

After some discussion we arrived at a deal that was satisfying for both parties. Well, I was satisfied anyway and he could always make additional cuts in the salaries to cover his losses.

I rented a small overpriced room to spend the night in, while the workers made “minor adjustments” to my ship. I woke up after a bad nights sleep. Feeling grumpy and only half awake, I walked down the corridors of the station. My feet brought me to the hangar and general docking area.

I could see her. Almost feel her and it felt as if she talked to me.

“Take me to the skies, fly me into nothingness. I shall never falter or deceive. I am Juturna”

I told the docking manager Scotty to prepare my pod, and shortly after I was lowered into the hull of Juturna. We connected at once, our systems intermingling, flesh and machine in a perfect symbiosis.

She had no war garments on or any modules mounted besides the capacitor rig that powered up at once. She gently lifted from the docking floor. I just let her hover there.

After 30 minutes I let the ship power down. Satisfied with the performance indicators and the interaction I mentally brought up the transaktion agreement and accepted the ISK to be transfered to the manufactor.

I will bring her home for fitting during this week if all goes according to plans and leave this hell hole of a station. Juturna will proudly join the ranks of the growing cap fleet of KIA.

A tribute to Varuna

9 07 2008

Patrolling the system of TDE in my crow my sensors picked up a cyno field being dropped. I homed in on the beacon and initiated warp-in procedures. Upon exiting warp I arrived at the slow pulsing vortex of a cyno field that was primed for use.

Holding off a few kilometres away I targeted my camera drones, and waited for whatever was to come though. It proved to be the maiden voyage of the brand new Nidhoggur class carrier “Varuna”.

I had ofcource heard of the purchase and congratulated Ombey upong bringing her home.

Ombey quickly entered warp, headed for the station and docked, but enticed him to do a fly by under the watchfull eyes of my Crow.

Behold a true beauty has been added to the ranks of KIA.

Geminate has fallen

7 07 2008

*CLANCK* The sound vibrates through the hull of my battleship as I slowly drift through the debris of enemy ships. I can sense the space, the pieces of metal, the silent cries of the stiff bodies floating by.

Victory is at hand. I spin my Megathron into a victory turn before heading for TDE, refueling, resocking and resupplying. Ready to move out again.

I am not alone in the process of ships that point the nose towards our new home. My comrades in arms fly beside me. We are not torn by race like the most of EvE but united in our purpose, in our belifs, in our destiny. The victorious, scared and majectic ships slowly make their way out of the remenants of what was former hostile space.

I salute my fellow pilots who has endured, fought and won.

I turn my megathron towards the new horizons and embrace the change that is to come.

Change is enevitable, but we shall adapt and overcome whatever the future holds as long as we stand beside eachother. This new change is a welcome one however. Geminate my home.

Geminate is falling

6 07 2008

For some time KIA has been patrolling the spacelanes in and around K25. Roadkill have been determined to make a stand in that system. Its a broken alliance but some few pilots keep the fight going. Either blind to the fact that they have lost or simply as a gesture of defiance. I like defiance.

I have before mentioned the pilot Gemstone505 from the Foundation corporation. He has led some surprising raids on our battleship fleet with his Stealth Bombers. Its a source of inspiration to behold the capsulering by this pilot.

K25 has been under siege for most of the week and this weekend the final pieces of resistance has faltered to being sporadic and uncoordinated. Unferth Devestator has been on the field several times with his Titan but it’s actual use has been minimal. A frantic hunt went on for the titan and at one point our Dictors warped in 1-2 seconds to late to catch it.

For the most part the battle of K25 has been purely won by the Battleships of Goons, DAI and KIA. The fighting has been heavy with some very well set up POS towers consisting of Energy neutralizing batteries, lazer, auto cannon batteries and warp disruptors.

The following events is taking place over multiple days but has been shortened down.

I was running a bit late the first day making my way slowly from Q-T with a single Crow for scouting.

While I was making best speed from Q-T the main fleet assembled in TDE with a large contingent of DAI moving up the pipe which it was my plan to hook up with around VSJ.

Without any incident I hooked up with DAI and moved with them to LU- where we assembled on the gate ready to jump in when the KIA fleet did.

KIA relies heavily on their remote repping battleships but the Roadkill towers could drain such a fleet in a very short time. So we had brought additional support in in shape of some logistic ships. The logistics were lost in due course of the battle but K25 was secured and all towers reinforced by the awaiting capital fleet. Myself played only a minor role in helping to slug some large antimatter charges into the POSs.

Friday the O2O system was of primary attention to KIA. Once again we had logistic ships and all ships were loaded up for a fierce fight like the ones we had faced in K25.

Also present for some odd reason was a Typhoon. I have not seen such a ship at the front line for quite some time. Actually I have not seen them really in action ever since it was proved that loading them with overdrives, nano fibers and inertia stabilizers was a hazardous plan. But here it was back again to wreck havoc.

The POS in question held some large bubbles and should have been a deathtrap but the setup of the POS could not have been more horrible. The fire from it was sporadic, mostly unguided and hopelessly out of the damage dealing league.

We set to work straight away with a battleship gang. It might not be a pretty blob of ships but it is damn effective.

We wrapped up by shooting a few guns for the hell of it while the dreads was called in for the heavy duty work.

I do hope next week will bring more excitement.
